They could have just quietly made no statement and sent countless emails out to the press stating they were delaying the day that they had been formally releasing the trailer. That tweet probably also needed to get approval from some people fairly high up. Sure they can do more, but they certainly could do . Perhaps this paves the way for more big gaming companies making pseudo political statements? Lot of larger announcements planned for this week if this doesn't have a peaceful resolution in the next few days. Bringing any focus on the protests helps the protests. Doesn't matter if they're profiting from it. I could not have said it better. Who cares if they stand to gain off it... Which I truly don't think they will gain more than they simply didn't say anything. It's quite literally the lack of advertising. They are specifically not holding their event/reveal.
It's advertising. Anything posted to some brand's social media is advertising. In addition they are not"not holding their event"; they are delaying it, and drawing attention to it with this tweet. To be honest, this is actually the first I have heard about the reveal. It is now on my radar due to this tweet, therefore it's still advertising. This isn't doing anything though and quite frankly some of us have had our intelligence insulted way too much with all the ton of dumb fucking"we stand with you via covid" advertisements by companies in recent months. These same companies that are actively fucking over their employees in this pandemic. Like seriously, Amazon of fucking companies has a God damn covid ad with some asshole preaching about how much the business is doing to protect it's employees which those who have followed recent events would know is complete fucking bullshit. It's a damn joke honestly.
Were they censor Colin Kaepernick's name from songs in Madden'18 and Madden'19? EA is the huge corp from the gambling world. They say and do whatever will bring them maximum profit. All these were acts of protest against racial discrimination and the authorities during the Donald Trump presidency. Not like anybody's losing sleep within a (likely ) cinematic trailer boosting a game that will just be precisely the same as last season's. Comes off as EA trying to get people to forget they recently renewed basically an entire monopoly on NFL games that majorly pissed off sports game lovers.
EA trying to get people to forget that they recently renewed basically an entire monopoly on NFL games which majorly pissed off sports sport fans. EA and NFL didn't force eachother into a decision. I'm sure they are both pleased to make bucketloads of cash. Folks just need to blame the party they despise the most. The NFL honestly doesnt care at all, they only care about their image and gains, they understand the image the nfl's had beneath EA and are content with this ongoing without taking"danger" in seeing other publishers could introduce their brand. Many people outside echochambers like this one do not care.
